Medtech focus

We believe the next generation of medical technology will be shaped where innovative companies, clinical knowledge and business expertise meet. At Medeon Science Park in Malmö, we bring these connections together to help medtech innovations move towards real healthcare impact.

Southern Sweden – a strong medtech region

The 2026 Study of the Swedish Medtech Innovation Ecosystem finds that Southern Sweden stands among Sweden’s major medtech regions. It is home to 58 registered medical device manufacturers—20% of the Swedish total identified in the 2026 national ecosystem study. The region also accounts for 24% of Sweden’s top 100 Medtech patent applicants and four of the top 20. These are meaningful signals of manufacturing presence and innovation activity, not simply a concentration of startups.

Medtech also has an important place within Southern Sweden’s broader life science community: the same study identifies approximately 680 life science companies in the region and classifies 58% as operating within medtech.

Malmö – At the heart of Southern Sweden's medtech ecosystem

Malmö sits at the heart of Southern Sweden's medtech opportunity. Together with Lund, the city forms a core of the region’s life science environment, bringing together clinical research, universities, technology expertise and companies developing healthcare solutions.

The 2026 Study of the Swedish Medtech Innovation Ecosystem highlights Malmö University, Skåne University Hospital and Malmö-based ArjoHuntleigh as examples of the city's research, clinical and industrial strengths. It also recognises Medeon Science Park as a hub connecting academia, industry and the public sector.
